Carpet Installation Advice

Carpets are a great finishing touch, giving you the opportunity to really finish off the style or look in a room. A well-laid carpet gives you a welcoming feeling every time you step on it. They also act as heat insulators, reducing your cost of heating as well as cooling with changing seasons. If you’re contemplating DIY carpet installation, it is advisable that you limit yourself to preparing the room to facilitate carpet laying. Keep in mind that carpets can be quite expensive, meaning any mistakes will be costly, and fitting them can require a high level of expertise.

Prepare the Floor

You don’t want dirt, grease, and moisture under the carpet, brewing mould, fungus and germs. If there is an absorbent subfloor underneath, treating it with a coat of primer is a must. The coat will also keep insects away.

Is the Climate Right for Carpet Layers?

The adhesives that hold the carpet layers work best at an air temperature of 15º C and room temperature of 17º C. Ideally, the humidity level must not exceed 65%. It is worth trying to ensure these optimum conditions during installation as you spend a lot of money on carpets that you love, so you will want them to last.
