In the last decade Melbourne has grown over 600,000 new residents, now Melbourne houses, feeds, travel, build for and accommodate 4.3 million people. By 2051 we will be a population of 7.7 million people, we will need 1.6 million new dwellings.
The Government has identified some key issues, employment, transportation, and housing.
In the Plan of Melbourne they have outlined that Clayton is a major employment Cluster that includes our internationally recognized university of Monash, CSIRO, Monash Medical Centre the Monash Hospital. This cluster has strength in education, health, research facilities It currently employs 58,000 people and is the largest employment cluster outside of the CBD of Melbourne.
It is a clear transportation, living and vital sector between the City of Melbourne and the Southern Corridor with the Cranbourne/Pakenham Rail Corridor Project.
The government has recently invested in a Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton to be completed by 2016.
The clusters mix of education, research, medical creates a unique environment for world leading research which will continue and are competitive in the Global Market.
All of this builds the blocks towards making the Campus Clayton North, new apartment/townhouses site is extremely attractive
